Fael documented Large Mushrooms of Northern Inthuin (Gosterwick Nature Foundation):
- Aqua Vitae: Brown stem about 4’ tall, large heavy white caps 5”-8” in diameter. Juicy and delicious. One mushroom will feed and hydrate a person for a whole day. If you sautee the cap to release the liquid, it can be used as a minor healing potion, with a shelf life of 2 weeks.
- Blue Trumpet: 14’ tall, 2’ diameter cup-shaped blue caps. Edible and nutritious but taste like bitter tree bark. One stalk will feed a person for 3 days. The caps are likely to hold several gallons of water.
- Cloud Cap: 9’ tall, 2’ diameter white and blue mottled caps. Tasty. One mushroom will feed a person for three days. Can be cooked to provide about 6 minor healing potions, with a shelf life of a few weeks.
- Eye-Opener (CAUTION): 9’ tall, 5’ diameter light blue caps with yellow spots. Non-nutritious. If eaten, they enhance senses but reduce judgment, for several hours.
- Mind-Eater (DO NOT EAT): 1’ tall with 2” pale yellow caps with a red dot in the center. They appear nutritious, but contain a toxin that will drive eaters insane.
- Orange Lamps: 10’ tall, 3’ diameter orange caps, glow from phosphorescence. Edible, one mushroom will feed a person for about 2 days. They also provide a good emergency light source; they will keep glowing for a few hours after picking.
- Red Veil (DO NOT EAT): 3’ tall yellow stem, 1’ diameter blood red cap. Eating these causes temporary violent madness.
- Slow Stepper (CAUTION): 2’ tall, 6” corpse-white caps with black flecks. If crushed or damaged they emit spores which slow anyone within about a 10’ radius for a few minutes. If eaten the slowness will last for hours.
- White Bulbs (DO NOT EAT): 11’ tall, 2’ diameter off-white caps. These are fatally poisonous.
- White Ribs (CAUTION): 15’ tall, 4’ diameter off-white caps. These are large, fast-growing, nutritious and tasty. One mushroom will feed a person for about 3 days.
